A study published in an upcoming issue of JACS addresses underreporting of mesh properties and describes new standardized label development.

jacsLindsey G. Kahan and Jeffrey A. Blatnik, MD, found that there is an extreme underreporting and lack of consistency of clinically important mesh properties, and while standardized terminology has been proposed in literature, property knowledge has not adequately permeated surgery, industry, or regulatory guidelines. Standardized packaging labels will provide accessibility of these properties and aim to bring standardized terminology into practice.
