Leaders of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) participated in a symposium, ASCRS/ACS Partnership to Support the Colorectal Surgeon, June 3 at the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (ASCRS) 2019 Annual Scientific Meeting in Cleveland, OH. The session highlighted the synergies between the ASCRS and the ACS. Patricia L. Turner, MD, FACS, Director, ACS Division of Member Services, and ACS Regent Steven D. Wexner, MD, PhD(Hon), FACS, FRCSEng, FRCSEd, FRCSI(Hon), FRCSGlasg(Hon), co-moderated the panel discussion. Speakers and their topics were as follows:

  • David B. Hoyt, MD, FACS, ACS Executive Director, spoke on collaboration to achieve common goals
  • Clifford Y. Ko, MD, MS, MSHS, FACS, FASCRS, Director, ACS Division of Research and Optimal Patient Care, spoke on ACS Quality Programs
  • Heidi Nelson, MD, FACS, Medical Director, ACS Cancer Programs, spoke on the Commission on Cancer
