ACS and AGS collaborate on landmark guidelines for geriatric surgical patient care

The American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the American Geriatrics Society (AGS) have collaborated on the development of new comprehensive guidelines for the preoperative care of the nation’s elderly patients. This article summarizes the development of these guidelines which are the culmination of two years of research and analysis by a multidisciplinary expert panel representing the ACS, the AGS, and a range of medical specialties.
