Coming next month in JACS and online now: Burnout and stress among U.S. surgery residents: Psychological distress and resilience

JACSCarter C. Lebares, MD; Ekaterina V. Guvva; Nancy L. Ascher, MD, PhD, FACS; et al found that high levels of burnout, severe stress, and distress symptoms are experienced in general surgery training. In this national cohort, higher dispositional mindfulness was associated with lower risk of burnout, severe stress, and distress symptoms, supporting the potential of mindfulness training to promote resilience during surgery residency.
